The earliest section of the Garrett-Booth-Cheney house dates back to 1721, when the 13 colonies were still being established and before the Revolutionary War. In 1810, a two-story addition was added, shortly after the US Capital was moved from Philadelphia to Washington, DC. A 1683 William Penn style Robert Southery Log Cabin was saved, relocated to and restored on the property.
